How to get relief of a dry caugh in bedtime

This home-made recipe comes from ancient Greece and was recommended by `a father of medicine` Hippocrates. 

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons water 

Mix all ingredients and sip before going to bed. 

The main ingredients, honey and vinegar, have antimicrobial properties, but we have to be cautious with the temperature of our mixture and not to heat it above 45°C to keep it active (enzymes would be destroyed in a higher temperature). 

Cayenne pepper with its compound capsaicin suppresses specific pain receptors responsible for soreness caused by a sharp, dry cough and thus promote relief. 

Ginger contains chemicals which can relax airways within 30 minutes and slow down the cough.
